TEAM is a School-Based Behavior Training Framework
This training framework is designed to empower school staff to effectively manage and address student behaviors within the school building, reducing the need for external interventions. It provides a structured, data-driven approach to behavior management through team-based training, evidence-based strategies, and proactive classroom techniques.
5 Key Components of the Program:
Developing a School-Based Behavior TEAM
Establish a specialized Behavior TEAM consisting of 3-5 trained staff members (administrators, teachers, specialists, counselors, etc.).
TEAM members will guide behavior change, implement strategies, and train additional staff over time.
Roles and Responsibilities of TEAM Members
De-escalation & Crisis Prevention: Creating designated areas and response protocols for preventing and managing escalations.
Proactive Strategies Based on Behavioral Understanding: NOT just another set of demands, but instead understanding so educators can decide what fits their classroom and their students!
Data Collection and Accountability: Using realistic and doable ways to document behavior that actually paint an accurate picture of behavior.
Behavioral Strategy Development: Training staff to implement targeted strategies to establish effective behavior change that will last.
Proven, Realistic Behavioral Strategies for Teachers
Increasing Motivation for Change: Identifying effective strategies to jumpstart behavior changed based on behavioral understanding and not behavioral bribes or temporary behavioral band aids.
Minimizing Corrections: Teaching staff how to interact based on behavioral understanding and why behavior is occurring to promote prosocial behavior.
Teaching Over Consequences: Implementing interactions and enhancements to help students self-regulate and most important learn how to appropriately accomplish their goals.
Behavior Change Through IEP Frameworks
Training staff to navigate the IEP process when behavioral goals or supports are required.
Addressing key questions such as:
When is an FBA (Functional Behavior Assessment) needed?
How do we ensure a BIP is followed before disciplinary actions?
How do we document and evaluate behavior-related accommodations in an IEP?
Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
Tracking staff implementation of behavior strategies and providing feedback loops to ensure effectiveness and adherence.
Collecting and reviewing realistic data to measure progress.
Adjusting training methods based on educator feedback and observed classroom needs and recognizing the teacher is in charge of their classroom.
